I get another error:

Error: Unable to open /usr//doc/BackupPC.html: configuration problem?

notice the // after usr I'm not sure where to even look for that to fix it. there must be a extra / somewhere.

I get this error on clicking on Host or pretty much anything.

How is anybody supposed to help you if you don't give context!
This is a mailing list that gets a dozen plus postings a day... how
are we supposed to remember what the context of your "other" error was
that presumably is the "another" you are referring to...

Host I get that error
is that a question?

Jeffrey has told you *twice* now, and you seem determined to ignore him, so I
won't repeat it. Good luck with fixing your problems.

That doesn't look as though it would work, but let's find out.

How rude... I post a help question with my issue and this is the response I get? I'm not seeing a Jeffrey even in here responding to me.

I guess I shouldn't ask "whom he is calling rude" or "what issue" though
the OP's lack of quoting and the fact that the OP still thinks this is a
forum makes it hard to know whom he is accusing and what he is
referring to... I guess at least this time, I am pretty sure it's not
me whom he is calling rude since he can't see my responses...

Perhaps someone can respond to him and suggest he join the mailing
list rather than persisting with treating this as a forum using the
broken BackupCentral mailing-list-to-forum software...

For some (blessed) reason, it appears that BackupCentral does not like
my emails or maybe discards them as spam :P I really think we should
set up an auto-responder to any email originating from BackupCentral
that denies the post while politely suggesting how to join the list...

Hi,
Holger,
I tried to reply to your email sent directly back to me, but your mail
server unceremoniously rejected me as a potential spammer -- I seem to
recall you have another email address that is less harsh though I may
be misremembering...

Apologies to the rest of the list for this off-topic message...

No, it's me ... I guess. As mostly, BackupCentral again gets threading wrong,
so, technically, he's responding to himself.
Your difficulties are somewhat strange, since gmail manages to show
threaded conversations correctly from/to the forum gateway. I think
the list archives do too.
And it's *not only* his lack of quoting, really. Even in the sum of his
messages, I doubt there is enough information for us to guess what problem
he is actually having. He should probably read
http://www.catb.org/~esr/faqs/smart-questions.html
That part is true. Gmail conveniently hides repeated quoted text
anyway unless you've forgotten and need to expand it. But you need
the information in the first place. Sounded like a permission or
packaging issue of some kind.

Yes, using gmail, I could easily read the question and answer in my
mail. And I have check the forum also do it correctly.

This thread is marked as solved. How is it solve? Is it using the method below:

# mkdir /usr/doc
# ln -s /usr/share/doc/backuppc*/BackupPC.html /usr/doc/BackupPC.html

This time I don't see the answer both in the list and the forum.

I am reading it from mailing list. I just realise there were mails
that come from forum (
http://www.backupcentral.com/phpBB2/two-way-mirrors-of-external-mailing-lists-3/backuppc-21/
) and there are mails from mailing list (
https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/backuppc-users ).

I guess the preffered way is to joint the list instead of forum.

No, your message appear in both, but you do not put your name so as
people like me only know you as ***@kosowsky.org, not Jeffrey.

There is NO sanctioned forum -- this is a mailing list. There happen to be some
commercial organizations (like backupcentral) that scrape the mailing
list and present the content as their own forum along with ads that
they use to make money off of our non-commercial content. Many
of us regulars are on the list get annoyed by newbies using
various commercial forums, who don't quote context, and expect there
questions to be miraculously answered.

This was, is, and presumably will always be a mailing list. If you
want help, it is recommended to join the mailing list...

I see. So, why don't we remove backupcentral (and other commercial
organisations) from the list?
